My rescue dog Scooter
My first blog post calls for a bit more information about myself as I wander through life.
I was raised in Hawaii, made my way to Seattle, WA to attend university, lived in Los Angeles, worked for a magazine, moved back to Hawaii, then to Seattle, attended law school in Oregon and now call Portland, Oregon my home.
I practiced law for 13 years and realized I wanted to follow my joy of doing lettering. I should have seen it as an omen when a fellow law student told me my hand writing should be turned into a font. Throughout the years people have commented on my penmanship, especially when check-writing was a popular pastime to purchase stuff in stores.
I have taken classes with the lovely Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls (another fellow Hawaiian) and Bryn Chernoff of Paperfinger (both in-person and through her workshops on Skillshare which I high recommend). I have also taken some beginning graphic design and photography courses at Portland Community College.
